NSSA to review forensic audit report

Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Honourable Sekai Nzenza has said Nssa was in the process of reviewing the forensic report and has engaged a team of lawyers to offer legal counsel after careful appraisal.

The minister said the review was in line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Vision 2030 which is anchored on efficiency, transparency and good governance.

Speaking during a press conference today, Honourable Nzenza said, "The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare is in receipt of the NSSA Forensic Report which has also been placed before the NSSA Board of Directors for deliberation.

“This audit report covers the operations of NSSA during the period from the 1 January 2015 and 28 February 2018. We are in the process of reviewing the report and have engaged a team of lawyers to offer legal counsel after careful appraisal."

Honourable Nzenza said that NSSA was also working with Special Anti-Corruption Unit on the matter.

"We are also working closely with the Special Anti-Corruption Unit on the matter," she said.

Minister Nzenza said that the involvement of the Legal Counsel was for NSSA to follow the appropriate route.

"Legal Counsel shall properly collate the information to enable the Board to decide the appropriate legal route to pursue,” she said adding that “where the evidence warrants either criminal action or recovery through civil remedies, we shall pursue the same in the interests of justice."

 

Honourable Nzenza said that it was her role as Minister to ensure the protection of the Pensioners and other contributors. She added that it is important for NSSA to guarantee the integrity of the Pension Fund in pursuit of President Mnangagwa's Vision 2030 which is anchored on good corporate governance.

"My role as the Minister is to ensure the protection of the interests of the Pensioners and other contributors who are covered by the social security schemes that NSSA established.

"It is of utmost importance to guarantee the integrity of the Pension Fund and all social security schemes provided in pursuit of His Excellency's Vision 2030 which is anchored efficiency, transparency and good governance," she said.

Honourable Nzenza said that the Forensic audit was not targeting anyone but it was an audit that was being done in order to seek legal counsel on how to do what is in the best interest of the Pensioners.
