President Emerson Mnangagwa will officially open this year’s 18th Zanu PF Annual Peoples Conference scheduled to kick off this Friday in Goromonzi, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity has said.

Speaking during a press briefing after the Politburo session, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said President Mnangagwa was going to officially open the conference on Friday and close it on Saturday.

“Adequate preparations for the conference in Goromonzi have been made and the President has said the conference is going to be a tremendous success,” said Moyo.

Moyo said the President reiterated that corruption and greediness would not be tolerated and law had to take its course on such people.

The Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity dismissed a rumour that is circulating and saying there will be an election at the conference.

“Elections are only done at the congress not the conference as per the Zanu PF Constitution. Only the congress entertains elections,” he said.

The Harare Post has learnt that Zanu PF First Secretary and President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa during the Politburo meeting said the ruling party stood with the victims of illegal land sales while land barons will face the full wrath of the law.

The successful sitting by the Zanu PF politburo at the party headquarters in Harare signifies the commencement of the party's 18th Annual People's conference.
