MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has bemoaned use of hate speech by some elements in the MDC-Alliance camp, indicating that he was much aware to the dirty tricks being launched against him by those elements.

Speaking during the late MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai`s commemorations at Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House (MRTH) recently, Mwonzora said his rivals in the MDC-Alliance were busy abusing the social media to attack him.

‘I am much aware that some of my opponents in the MDC-Alliance are employing strategies of denigrating me. They always label me a Zanu-PF puppet with a view to tarnish my image. They abuse social media platforms, turning them into battle grounds. I urge you fellow comrades to use social media responsibly,’’ said Mwonzora.

The MDC-T leader highlighted that the solution to the purported national crisis was rooted in dialogue, tolerance and peaceful co-existence, adding that unlike MDC-A, his party was pushing for an inclusive, genuine and unconditional national dialogue.

‘Through dialogue, the country would be freed from isolation and integrated into the international community as a free and equal partner.

MDC-Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa refused to join other political parties in the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), questioning the legitimacy of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and bringing forward unrealistic and unnecessary demands. The MDC-Alliance instead unsuccessfully used violent ways to unconstitutionally remove President Mnangagwa from power.

Mwonzora noted that only collective effort will save the country from the jaws of poverty, economic challenges and international isolation. Same praised the late Tsvangirai for engaging in dialogue with the ruling party to the benefit of the nation. He pointed out that the signing of the Global Political Agreement (GPA) that ushered in Government of National Unity (GNU) was a clear testimony that Tsvangirai was a man of commitment.

Former MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe was once a victim of hate speech by the MDC-Alliance supporters when she was attacked and labelled a prostitute. Several MDC-T officials have also been verbally abused and labelled Zanu-PF projects by the MDC-Alliance supporters.
