Zimbabwe’s economy depends upon the youths as they are the vital productive and entrepreneurial cog through which the country’s Vision 2030 can be implemented successfully, President Mnangagwa has said.

Speaking at the, ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo: Young Labour Conference at the Harare International Conference Centre yesterday, the President said the youths should be aware of the role they needed to play in the development of the country.

“I am happy that as our young generation, the future of this country, you are awake to the responsibilities you are mandated to. I feel both humbled and very thrilled that we leave behind a patriotic youth. Your invitation to me to grace this occasion highlights the fact that you, industrious and hardworking youths, are cognisant of the key role that you should play in the socio-economic growth of our great motherland Zimbabwe. It is further opportune that this conference is being held as the year comes to an end following notable success milestones during the year 2022,”said the President.

The President said that whereas the older generation had to fight for the liberation of this country, the youth generation of today has a singular task of building the country to levels that would be admired by every Zimbabwean.

President Mnangagwa added that yesterday’s conference silenced critics who peddled falsehoods that Zimbabwean youths were not patriotic to their country.

“This movement by you makes me happy. There is perception created by the western media that the young generation admires not your country but the West. There are people who day and night are thinking about how they can undermine the Government. The perception out there was that the young people aspire and admire those proxies who represent the West in our country. This proves them wrong,” said President Mnangagwa.

The President added that as a people, we all have a role to play for the realisation of our collective national vision to become a prosperous and empowered upper middle income society by 2030. He further challenged the youths to take advantage of various economic opportunities that have been availed by the Second Republic.

Meanwhile, Vision 2030 Movement chairperson, Paul Mavima Junior said that the youths were committed to ensuring that the country’s economy grew under the leadership of President Mnangagwa. He added that the youths would work tirelessly to ensure an undisputed victory for President Mnangagwa in next year’s polls.
