President Emmerson Mnangagwa Commends Zimbabwe Defence Forces

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces celebrated its 38 years in existence, today,14th of August 2018, at the National Sports Stadium under the theme ‘Zimbabwe Defense Forces dedicated to the defence of national sovereignty, stability and socio-economic development’.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the Zimbabwe Defense forces, is important in that it safeguards Zimbabwe in all forms and is highly recognised by several nations.

Addressing thousands of Zimbabweans at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day Celebrations, President Mnangagwa said the defense forces have maintained peace and security in Zimbabwe, the region and international community.

“You have indeed remained a source of inspiration and national pride throughout the 38years of existence and operations. While you have maintained peace and security in this country, at the same time you have contributed to global peace, security and harmony through your involvement in regional and international peace-keeping missions,” he said.

The same said the ZDF works well with its sister security forces against all forms of crime and that it should be commended for its good works inside and beyond Zimbabwe’s borders.

“Furthermore, our Defense Forces have supported other sister security forces like the Zimbabwe Republic Police, in curbing the economic hemorrhaging through corruption, illegal border crossing activities and smuggling of illegal imports. Their sterling work, inside and beyond our borders must be celebrated and applauded,” he said

President Mnangagwa commended the Commanders of the ZDF for the good leadership and guidance and encouraged all officers to remain resolute.

“Allow me to commend Commanders of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces for their astute leadership and guidance to our Defense forces. To all our officers, men and women of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, I encourage you to remain resolute and to diligently and professionally execute your mandate to protect Zimbabwe, its people, its national security, interests and territorial integrity,” he said.
