President Emmerson Mnangagwa has lavished praise on the people of Manicaland Province and their leadership for voting in their numbers and ensuring a Zanu PF victory in the just ended Harmonised General elections.

On the sidelines of the commissioning of the Sabi Star Lithium Mine, President Mnangagwa commended the people of Buhera, who had gathered at Mukwasi Primary and Secondary School in Buhera North constituency, for resoundingly voting for Zanu PF.

“We had come here today with the intention of commissioning a processing plant at Sabi Star, but then I learnt of your gathering and intent to congratulate me for winning in the just ended elections, I thank you, but ini ndauya kuzotenda imi.

“Thank you for voting for Zanu PF and for having faith and trust in us and our ability to deliver and stir the country towards development. I heard that you managed to retain at least 21 seats out of the available 26 seats from this province, we thank you. Well done the people of Buhera, well done Manicaland,” the President echoed.

He further thanked the country as a whole for his re-election and for the resounding victory in the Parliamentary seats.

Turning to issues of development, President Mnangagwa assured the gathering that the Government will ensure that the province’s developmental concerns are attended to as a matter of urgency.

“The first thing that the Government will do for Manicaland is to ensure that the road which connects from Murambinda to Birchenough Bridge is constructed” the President said.

The President added that the Government was in the process of ensuring that all 35 000 villages in the country get solar powered boreholes as part of the Government's plan to ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water.

Moreover, the President, he castigated both local and foreign detractors who seem bent on causing chaos in the country, through production of false and damning preliminary reports.  He rebuked select foreign election observers and individuals who visited the country with the sole intention of taking advantage of the country’s election period to destabilize and cause chaos in the country, while under the guise of observing the elections.

“Zimbabwe is a champion of democracy and no one can ascribe what to consider as democracy in our land. We voted in peace which all ascribed to and it's time to stand united and build our country,” he said.
