The President encouraged all Universities to be institutions where knowledge is constructed and re-constructed to uplift Zimbabwe out of poverty and into prosperity.
“Under the Second Republic, Universities, Manicaland State University included, must remain as unique places of transformation, where knowledge is constructed and re-constructed, the present secured and the future forged. Within the context of its present and future relevance, Manicaland State University should define its footprint and impact on broad based empowerment, as well as wealth creation to lift our people out of poverty and into prosperity,” he said.
President Mnangagwa also coined the “Make it possible philosophy” where he implored all Universities to become pro-active in the more ‘Made in Zimbabwe’ goods and services.
“In the present development epoch, the nation must equally see an increased shift and impactful results in the constant and precise application of scientific enquiry. This must be evidenced by the promotion of the ‘make it possible philosophy’ of the applied science field as well as the production of more ‘Made in Zimbabwe’ goods and services,” the President said.
President Mnangagwa, who is also the Chancellor of all Universities, has been on a drive to make sure that Government continues to unlock the inherent potential and role of all centres of education in national development.
The President has also spearheaded the evolution of Zimbabwe’s education system from the traditional 3.0 which created an educated but unskilled student, into education 5.0 which creates an educated, skilled and creative graduate.
