Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Professor Amon Murwira says Zimbabwe has lots of opportunities to industrialise and modernise through science and technology and innovation.

Minister Murwira said this yesterday whilst addressing youths at the just ended two day Sixth Session of the African Regional Science, Innovation and Technology Forum boot camp in Victoria Falls.

“In hypothesis we work with prediction and my prediction is that we will industrialise and modernise this country using science and technology and innovation within the 5.0 design and its philosophical pipeline.

“We are bold and determined, Zimbabwe has a lot of opportunities, lots of them and I want to prove it.  If you are importing food it means someone is not farming, if you are importing medicines it means someone is not making medicines.  A lot of jobs in there, so all these jobs can only be created by innovators and that’s an opportunity,” said Minister Murwira.

“One prediction, the level of imports of any country is an indicator of the use of its brain power. If you import 90% of your products you are using 10% of your brain power. If you are importing only 10% of your products you are utilizing 90% of your brain power.

“We will win against poverty, we will win against selfishness, we will win against hate, we will win against confusion, by just creating wealth through science technology and innovation,” said the Minister.

Minister Murwira is committed to see to it that the education system spurs the country towards achieving Vision 2030, riding upon technological advancements and industrialisation.
