… as Spain eyes investment opportunities in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe will soon bid farewell to the electricity woes as foreign companies eye investment opportunities in the energy sector.

Fly Servicios de Construction a company based in Madrid, Spain has expressed interest to invest in the Solar energy in Zimbabwe.

On his Twitter handle, Engineer Cecil Moyo Njanja, posted, “Spain-Fly Servicios de Construction, identified Bulawayo as a perfect destination for development of the Photovoltaic Plants.”

Photovoltaic Plants, also known as a solar park or farm, is a large-scale photovoltaic system (PV system) designed to supply power into the national electricity grid.

This investment is set to ease the energy shortages in the country and significantly reduce the import bill, as the country works on producing energy from solar plants.

Another solar power plant is set to be established in Norton soon.

Speaking on the magnitude of the project, Team Zimbabwe said, “A 100MW solar power plant is set to be established in Norton by Belarusian investors, the renewable energy project will be implement on a 25 year Independent Power Producer basis and will involve a Power Purchase Agreement with the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Company (ZETDC).

As part of the National Development Strategy to enhance key locomotive sectors, of which energy is one of them, Government is creating an enabling environment critical for transformative growth as the country works toward Vision 2030.
