Government through its Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ), has embarked on nationwide infrastructure development programmes in its bid to meet the 2030 vision.

IDBZ entered a financial support services with the Hwange Local Board (HLB) to service 2000 residential stands in Empumalanga West Housing Project

The project scope of works includes surfaced roads, sewer network, electricity distribution and water reticulation infrastructure. The project site is owned by HLB and will be implemented through an unincorporated Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that will be managed by IDBZ and HLB.

Speaking to the Harare Post, a high ranked IDBZ official told the publication that there are a lot of projects to do with infrastructure development on the calendar of the development bank.

He added that it was the mission of the bank to move along with the country’s trajectory and vision to provide a middle income Zimbabwe with decent housing.

Apart from servicing the 2000 residential stands, IDBZ will also rehabilitate the 1.08ML/day waste water treatment plant and to improve sanitation facilities in the town through the upgrade of the town’s sewer system capacity.

The objective of the project is to provide housing and improve municipal sanitation services, thereby contributing to the development of the health and social wellbeing of the population. When completed, the project will directly benefit 2000 home seekers and 5000 households in terms of improved sanitation.

Apart from the Hwange project, he said that IDBZ had acquired land in Bulawayo’s Killarney suburb where they were planning to construct decent accommodation for professional doctors and nurse in a bid to improve the medical practitioners’ well-being.

These projects are hinged on President Emmerson Mnangagwa promises that he would provide better and decent living conditions to Zimbabweans under the Command Housing programme.

Government under the programme wants to accelerate housing delivery to address the ballooning housing backlogs in different cities and towns.
