2019 for serious development, Chombo

Zvimba North Constituency House of Assembly member, Cde Marian Chombo (ZANU PF) says she has set realistic targets and achievable objectives for the 2019 calendar.

Some of her major areas of concern and 2019 resolutions regarding constituency development include employment creation, road rehabilitation, and rehabilitation of educational and healthy facilities among other critical areas.

In an interview with the Harare Post, Cde Chombo said most roads in her Constituency still need attention as they were in a critical state due to heavy rains received during the last rain season which also affected roofs of school classroom blocks and that of local clinics.

“Roads rehabilitation tops our priority list as they connect our service centres like clinics, schools and the business centres. We have already started working on some parts of Banket-Raffingora road. That is our main and busy road which also connects us to Guruve in Mashonaland Central province.

“I hope to engage and work with all the key stakeholders in road rehabilitation including villagers who can chip in with labour,” she said.

Cde Chombo said the poor state of roads had affected access to clinics and other service centres especially in the rainy season.

“Our priority list also has rehabilitation and construction of schools, in trying to complement government efforts in that regard. I want to make sure that children from my constituency have decent classrooms and enough textbooks just like any other developed schools.

“I am also prioritising access to clean water. It has remained a cause for concern in the constituency. I am happy that i assisted in the drilling of close to eight boreholes in the constituency in 2011 and 2012 prior to 2013 election and I want to increase the number to meet our growing population. We also continue doing poultry projects around the constituency where we are assisting mainly women and child headed families.

“I also hope to establish more clinics in the remotest parts of the constituency so that people have easy access to health care facilities,” she said.

Cde Chombo is among the three female politicians from the ruling party ZANU-PF who won National Assembly seats in Mashonaland West province.
