The violent demonstrations which were most unleashed and witnessed in Harare and Bulawayo Metropolitans confirmed the existence of a militant group within the MDC.

In Harare and Bulawayo the riotous mob defied all the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) orders to restrain from engaging in violence and arson activities.

Sources privy to the ongoing illegal demonstration told the Harare Post that MDC Chamisa held meetings mostly in Harare and Bulawayo on Saturday 12 January 2018 to strategise on the modus operandi of their actions.

In Harare, a source who refused to be named, told this publication that a clandestine meeting was held in Harare’s Mt Pleasant suburb behind Blue Lagoon shops where MDC National Spokesperson, Jacob Mafume convened the meeting.

“There was a meeting convened by Councillor Mafume where he called all the MDC Youth Assembly members to be determined on the plan as good days and better offers awaits them once the plan has been executed.

“We were promised two roomed houses in Ruwa and monthly allowances. Mafume told us that their welfare is being looked into and so far the party has already acquired land in Ruwa,” said the source.

On Sunday the MDC Youth Assembly Secretary General, Lovemore Chinoputsa urged all MDC Youths to take part in the national shutdown which later turned out to be a disguise for criminal activities.

In Mashonaland Central Province, the Harare Post learnt that MDC Provincial Youth Chairperson, Tonderai Samhu sent messages to parry members in Mazoe and Bindura advising them to converge at Chipadze business centre so that they will march into town.

Also a well-known MDC activist, Patience Chigwande, led a group of MDC youths who attempted to block Chipadze road.

Citizens have expressed concern over dishonest of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) for allowing the hijacking of the mass stay away into a political show in which ZANU PF installations and properties became targets of arson, looting and vandalism.

In Mashonaland West Province, a known MDC Youth Assembly member, Mathias Rwakaonde led a team of youths who burnt tyres near Ram petroleum and it is alleged that they even burnt Chegutu East National Assembly member, Webster Shamhu’s Toyota Land Cruiser which was at his service station in Chegutu.

There have been attempts by MDC Chamisa party to distance themselves from the acts of anarchy and insurgency by plotting side shows to play victim.

One MDC Youth Assembly member, Pride Mkono in a WhatsApp group shared tips on how to make a petrol bomb and hours later, the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai house was petrol bombed.

Citizens on the social media questioned the coincidence of the post and finally the bombing.

Apart from putting a show to play victim, MDC Chamisa members started to delete most of their previous tweets which linked the party to the violent demonstration. Members like Kuwadzana East Member of Parliament, Charlton Hwende who tweeted in December 2018 that in January 2019, they will be unleashing national shutdown as a final push to force President Emmerson Mnangagwa to resign.
