Chamisa makes a u-turn on demos ...as he pushes for dialogue.

Following repeated futile violent demonstrations orchestrated by the MDC to push for a regime change, the MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has finally resorted to pushing for a dialogue with President Emmerson Mnangagwa with a view to forming a Government of National Unity, the Harare Post can reveal.

Sources within the opposition party circles revealed that there has been a crack within the party. According to sources, there is a group pushing for the continuation of violent demonstrations countrywide which started on Monday to achieve their regime change agenda. This group has the support of civil society organisations and their approach is always confrontational.

However, Chamisa`s confidante comprising of Deputy Treasurer General Chalton Hwende, Secretary for Local Government Murisi Zvizvai and National Executive member Cliford Hlatshwayo among others are now giving Chamisa pressure to avoid the demonstration route which they say is not yielding anything to address the current crisis and are now suggesting peaceful engagement with  President Mnangagwa with a view to forming a GNU.

Sources within the beleaguered opposition party say this group is aware that they will scoop influential posts in the event that a GNU is formed. The sources allege that a meeting was held at Murisi`s house last week where the team parcelled themselves positions they dream to hold in the event of a GNU. Murisi was allegedly given the Ministry of Local Government Public and National Housing while Hwende got the Ministry of Finance.

This move is likely to cause fireworks as the party`s Deputy National Chair, Tendai Biti is also reportedly eyeing the Finance Ministry which he once held during the previous GNU.

Chamisa`s dream of the GNU is a hard borne to chew considering that Zanu PF during its 2018 Annual National Conference in Esgodini made a resolution that there will be no GNU and President Mnangagwa is on record dismissing any possibility of the GNU.
