Let’s observe party constitution: Mudzuri

MDC Alliance co-vice president, Engineer Elias Mudzuri has linked the violence rocking the MDC to failure by the leadership to follow the party’s constitution.

Posting on his Facebook page, Mudzuri said, “The violence being experienced in the party today are a direct consequence of leadership’s failure to observe constitutionalism.”

He further expounded on how the leadership failed to follow laid down procedures according to the constitution.

Said Mudzuri, “Wrong processes will scientifically bring undesirable results. The MDC constitution speaks of an extra-ordinary congress before the ordinary. The term of office of the present MDC office bearers ends October to November 2019.

“It is from the 2014 structures that the late Morgan Tsvangirai’s successor is to be elected.  We must call for the date of an extra-ordinary congress in the party after which the 2019 structures shall be democratically elected.”

The fact that the MDC Secretary General, Douglas Mwonzora is gaining ground across the country has thrown Chamisa and his followers into a panic mode, making a lot of mistakes along the way.

This weekend a restructuring exercise in Chitungwiza had to be prematurely aborted because of some unruly pro-Chamisa individuals who chose not to follow the constitutional guidelines to the process after realising that Mwonzora was gaining a lot of ground.

The same happened in Kuwadzana, Chamisa’s backyard as Mwonzora’s faction was reportedly winning all positions in the main wing and women’s assembly, a situation that forced pro-Chamisa youths to disrupt the proceedings once again.

The shifting political landscape within the MDC has sent the youthful leader into panic. This has seen him turn all events into campaign podiums.

During the burial of MDC Secretary for Finance and Economic Affairs, Tapiwa Mashakada’s father yesterday, Chamisa turned the sombre moment into a factional and tribal rally. He was again witnessed taking selfies for campaign purposes in Chimanimani where Cyclone Idai killed more than 200 people and destroyed homes.
