Ncube elected Bulawayo Provincial Chairman

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veteran Association (ZNLWVA) Bulawayo Chairman, Cde Cephas Ncube was elected Zanu PF Bulawayo Metropolitan Provincial Chairman in an election held on Saturday.

Ncube filled the post left vacant after President Emmerson Mnangagwa dissolved Bulawayo provincial executive together with that of Harare metropolita.

Ncube garnered 1733 votes to beat three other contestants including his closest rival, Abdenigo Nyathi who harvested 563 votes. Two other contestants were Cornelius Nyathi and Isaac Dhakamela. Former ZNLWVA National Chairman, Jabulani Sibanda withdrew his candidature in the eleventh minute to rally behind Ncube.

Cde Rejoice Sibanda emerged victorious in the women’s league contest after beating her closest competitor, Maidei Mpala. In the Youth League contest, Garikai Zonde was elected the new boss after reaping 370 votes against Mtunzi Mabhena who bagged 344 votes.

The elections were held in the province’s five administrative areas. Politburo member and Hebert Chitepo School of ideology Principal, Munyaradzi Machacha coordinated the elections which were described as free and fair by both the winning and losing candidates.
