President Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed sorrow following the death of MDC Glen View South legislator, Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java (36) who passed on last Monday.

In his condolences message, President Mnangagwa wrote on his official Twitter handle that, “Very sad to learn of the tragic passing of Hon Vimbai Tsvangirai - Java. May her memory be a blessing and a comfort to all that knew her, and may she rest in eternal peace.”

Commenting on President Mnangagwa’s tweet, Coram Mushuta replied, “This is maturity your Excellency uniting our nation despite our different political views. May Vimbai Tsvangirai -Java's soul rest in peace.”

The late Tsvangirai-Java was involved in a car accident along Harare-Bulawayo highway last month when she was travelling from their party meeting in Bulawayo. She has been hospitalized since then until she succumbed to death.

That accident also claimed the lives of Tsvangirai-Java’s campaign Manager, Paul Rukanda and relative Tafadzwa Mhundwa.

Vimbai is the daughter to the late MDC founder, Morgan Tsvangirai.

Tsvangirai-Java was elected the secretary general of the MDC’s Women’s Assembly at their elective congress held in Gweru last month.
