The appointment of former Minister of Finance and Economic Development Patrick Chinamasa as the new Chairman of Board of Directors of Air Zimbabwe has been highly welcomed by citizens who described Chinamasa as a hard-working and upright man.

A press statement released by Government yesterday reads, “His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Patrick Anthony Chinamasa as the Chairman of Board of Directors of Air Zimbabwe. Cde Chinamasa who is the ZANU PF Secretary of Finance has served the Government portfolios including that of Minister of Finance and Economic Development.”

Responding to the appointment, Norton Member of Parliament Honourable Temba Mliswa came out on his twitter handle congratulating Mr Chinamasa describing him as a strict and no-nonsense man.

“Congratulations to Patrick Chinamasa on being appointed Board Chair of Air Zimbabwe. One thing you cannot take away from him is his hard-line, strict corporate governance stance. There will be no nonsense there and he has the capacity to turn it around,” he posted.

Cyber troll Kudzai Mutisi tweeted saying, “Patrick Chinamasa is not an incompetent man. Neither is he a corrupt man. Those who know him well will tell you that he is a stern man who is a stickler to good governance. The rabid criticism being thrown around is not factual, it's just emotional gibberish,” said Mutisi.

One economic analyst Tatenda Katsapo said he has no doubt that Mr Chinamasa would revive the Airline that was on the collapsing path.

“Chinamasa’s appointment is welcome because it will revive Air Zimbabwe. It was on a down ward trend and there seemed to be no hope of its revival. Mr Chinamasa is a hard-worker and he is the right man for the job,” he said.

Yesterday President Mnangagwa also made the following appointments, National Political Commissar Victor Matemadanda and Secretary of War Veterans Douglas Mahiya deputised by Mr Headman Moyo.
