Outgoing Russian Ambassador bids Zim farewell

The outgoing Russian Federation Ambassador to the Republic of Zimbabwe and Malawi, Ambassador Sergy V. Bakharev yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Dr Sibusiso Moyo at is offices in Harare.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Ambassador had completed a six year mission and had managed to ensure Russia invests in Zimbabwe.

“Outgoing Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Zimbabwe and Malawi, Sergy V. Bakharev paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Sibusiso B. Moyo after completing his six year tour of duty. Under him Zimbabwe managed to lure two big foreign direct investments which are Darwendale Platinum and Alrosa Diamonds,” said the Ministry.

In his press statement, the Russian Federation envoy said Zimbabwe and Russia continued to thrive to have a same direction in the future.

“As Russia and Zimbabwe we are trying to find major direction of our interaction of our future years to come but, anyway both of us have expressed that we are confident that the future of our relation is bright and our friendship is indestructible,” said Ambassador Bakharev.

In Zimbabwe, Russia has investment interests in the areas of mining, agriculture, and fertiliser production. The Second Republic has roped in Russia amongst its global business players which it has signed with mega deals in its quest to turn around the economy, Harare Post has learnt.
