Disaffection towards Chamisa balloons

By Tendai Matunhu

Disaffection towards the MDC youthful leader, Nelson Chamisa, within the MDC hierarchy continues to swell as members accuse him of dictatorial tendencies, incompetence, lack of vision and cluelessness among a myriad of alleged misdemeanours.

This publication can reveal that Chamisa lost love of his followers    after he showed reluctance in calling for anti-ZANU PF demonstrations. It is reported that he eventually called for the commencement of the recent demonstrations after his deputies forced him to do so.

Chamisa preferred a diplomatic approach to confrontation. There are also sensational accusations against Chamisa that he had a hand in the blanket banning of the MDC demonstrations.

The disillusionment within the MDC hierarchy has gone to dizzy heights, to an extent that the grassroots are creating anti-Chamisa whatsapp chat groups.

This publication is in possession of leaked chats from one of the anti-Chamisa whatsapp groups called, ‘2019 Chamisa must go’. In the group, members called for the stepping down of Chamisa.

One Edmore Svinurayi shared his disgruntlement over Chamisa in the group saying, “Vapererwa vaifunga dzimwe nyika dzichapindira manje dololo hakuna anouya (they ran out of ideas, because they thought the international community would come in to help but it never showed up).

“Chamisa is now between the devil and the deep sea (pakati pa Ncube na Biti), anomanikwa chete, isu tichimutibura nekumwe Chamisa chachuru chakapinda nyoka (Biti and Ncube will fix him as supporters, we will help to squeeze him out, he is now powerless).

Svinurayi went on to say, “Hapachina rimwe zano (There is no plan), he thought the Sudan way will happen in Zimbabwe, not with ZANU PF. Alliance is broke, no guns, no systems, no brains, half of its supporters vapfana vebrongo shame (It’s a pity that half of his supporters are drug addicts). Even industry ikamuka nhasi they will remain marovha, 5 O Levels zero (even if industry is revived they cannot be employed because they are not educated).

“They cannot even buy cars for their constituencies oooh shame then thought of running a country. Nero is good as an activist not a president,” said Svinurayi.

Other group members including Ashleigh Hongoro and Plaxcedes Fambisa shared the same sentiments in the chat group, calling for Chamisa to step down as soon as possible.

The disgruntled members have gone to the extent of subjecting Chamisa as a subject of jokes and portraying him as a mentally ill patient.

One joke goes: “Chamisa ashanyira chimwe chipatara chevarwere vepfungwa ndokuwana umwe murwere akagara hake achidziya mushana.

Chamisa: Yes kani shamwari.

Murwere: Eee ndingakubatsirai nei?

Chamisa: Asi hausi kuona kuti uri kutaura nani? Ndini Mr Chamisa President weZimbabwe

Murwere: (achitarisaChamisa kumeso) iiiiiii sorry hako shamwari unoita right manje manje. Neni ndichisvikawo pano ndaizviti ndini Jacob Zuma.”

The factions within the MDC party are now an open secret with Chamisa losing popularity in most Provinces including Bulawayo, Masvingo, Manicaland and Harare.
