MDC MP praises ED

By Christopher Makaza

Entumbane-Emakhandeni House of Assembly member, Dingilizwe Tshuma has showered praises on President Emmerson Mnangagwa`s government, a development that is in sharp contrast with the opposition party`s tradition of unnecessarily attacking government at public forums.

Honourable Tshuma dropped the bombshell that is likely to invite censure from his intolerant bosses at a constituency development meeting at Emakhandeni and Entumbane halls on 24 and 25 August respectively.

Speaking at the meetings, Honourable Tshuma urged residents to be patient with the government whilst it is doing all it can to address the economy. He said government’s Fiscal and Monetary policies by government such as Intermediary Money Transfer Tax (IMTT) will go a long way in raising money to settle domestic debt which will then assist in boosting investor confidence.

Honourable Tshuma lambasted MDC Bulawayo Deputy Mayor, Tinashe Kambarami for attempting to suspend Bulawayo Town Clerk, Christopher Dube on fabricated charges of corruption.

Honourable Tshuma urged residents that instead of criticising government; they should come up with income generating projects so that they can benefit from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Residents present also thanked the government on its resolve to fight corruption, availing food relief in urban areas as well as providing subsidised ZUPCO buses.

This is not the first time in recent past that the opposition has praised the government. On 24 August at Pumula North hall, Bulawayo United Residents Association (BURA) Chairperson, Winos Dube also commended government effort to provide relief following El-nino induced drought. He even urged residents to support President Mnangagwa saying the current challenges are just a passing phase.

Dube castigated MDC for refusing to join other political parties in the dialogue wagon, adding that the MDC organised demonstrations are not an answer to the current economic challenges bedevilling the country.
