MDC concedes to corruption

In a move meant to crack whip on corrupt MDC-Alliance officials, party leader, Nelson Chamisa this Wednesday appointed a committee to investigate and take action against fraudulent officials, ignorantly intimating to amok corruption within the party.

Contrary to sentiments by some MDC officials that reported corruption within its ranks was a Zanu PF’s construct, the party’s leadership has finally capitulated.

A source within the party’s close ranks conceded that corruption was costing the party to an extent that most MDC led councils were now broke.

“Leadership was getting frustrated with rampant corruption cases involving MDC-Alliance-led councils countrywide, and how it would eventually compromise the party’s support base, for example what previously transpired in Bulawayo, so they have decided to face the ill head-on.

“Since most of these accused persons feign ignorance when questioned, instead choosing to blame it on their Zanu PF opponents for setting them up, management has seen it fit to carry out their own investigations,” he added.

The committee which is comprising of six officials - the Integrity and Accountability Panel (IAP) will be led by renowned lawyer, cum Seventh Day Adventist elder, Advocate Thabani Mpofu.

Sadly it is yet to be seen if this committee will yield anything if not another one of the usual talk shows. Mpofu took up this offer against the background that his church denomination prohibits him from holding such a portfolio, as one is not supposed to be active in party politics.

Prior events have spoken of corruption within the party which party members had denounced, blaming Zanu Pf for setting them up.
