Zanu PF’s 18th Annual National People’s Conference scheduled for this Tuesday is set to be premised on economic revival, the party’s Secretary for Administration has said.

Speaking on the preparations made towards the conference, the party’s Secretary for Administration, Dr Obert Mpofu revealed that this year’s conference centres on efforts towards reviving the economy.

“The conference will consolidate national efforts towards economic revival, a marked departure from the previous regime where political issues took centre stage,” he said.

“We are going to focus on bread and butter issues and top on the agenda is the issue of the economy and the challenges that the country is facing, which people are concerned about which will be addressed by Ministers and heads of departments in the party,” he said.

He also added that the party was overwhelmed by requests from all sectors of the economy throughout the country of people intending to attend the conference, a situation they had swiftly moved in to accommodate as the party has already mobilised enough resources to cater for interested delegates.

“We were expecting 5 000 delegates, but then we have got other stakeholders who have been so overwhelmingly keen to attend the meeting and that has actually spiralled the number to almost 10 000.,” he said.

The conference will be running under the theme, “Modernise, Mechanise and Grow the Economy towards Vision 2030.”
