Chamisa has lost control of the party: Vic Falls Mayor

By Innocent Mujeri

Victoria Falls Mayor, Councilor Somvelo Dlamini has said that the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Nelson Chamisa has lost control of the party to members who are bent on destroying the party from within, the Harare Post can report.

Dhlamini said this when he was commenting on his alleged expulsion from the MDC and subsequent removal from the Mayoral position of Victoria Falls.

“I am not fazed by this so-called termination of my MDC membership because it’s not the first time. I have been suspended twice before and still bounced back. My victimization clearly shows that the party leader has lost control of the party as there is a clique of people who are dictating how things are done in the party”, said Dlamini.

Dhlamini said he is still the mayor of Victoria Falls and that he will continue serving the people who voted for him.

He further said he only learnt of the termination of his membership from the MDC and his removal as mayor through the social media.

“As far as I know, I am still the mayor of this town (Victoria Falls) and I will continue to serve those who voted for me. Some of us are possessed with progressive minds and I will not be distracted by this sideshow. I am yet to receive the so-called letter about my removal as Mayor”, Dhlamini said.

The MDC is currently ravaged by internal fights pitting Nelson Chamisa and Lynnette Karenyi-Kore on one hand and Tendai Biti and Thabita Khumalo, on the other. The fights are cascading to the grassroots levels as seen by the termination of Dhlamini’s MDC membership.

Dhlamini was one of the guests who welcomed President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday when he visited Victoria Falls to officially open the 6th African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development.
