Chamisa distances himself from #31July protest

In a strategic move, MDC-Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has appointed Welshman Ncube, as the acting president of the party, for an undisclosed duration, as the ‘youthful’ crafty leader prods at distancing himself from the planned #31July protest.

This is not the first time that the cunning leader has tactfully exonerated himself from public disturbances in order to avoid persecution from the law - given the violent track record which comes along with most demonstrations staged by the opposition against Government.

In a statement, the MDC-Alliance spokesperson Dr Nkululeko Sibanda said that the party had appointed Welshman Ncube as acting president.

“Prof Ncube will act as president, till advised otherwise,” he said.

MDC-Alliance Masvingo chapter leader, James Gumbi also questioned the move arguing that this was not the right time for Chamisa to take a backseat role.

“Of cause we appreciate the need for him to mourn and grieve over the passing of his mother, but really this is not the time to be appointing an acting president when the country is waiting on him to prove that he can rise to any occasion,” he said.

“He should instead reverse this appointment if he is serious about leading the MDC. And what stopped him from appointing Ncube as soon as he learnt of his mother’s death, than to wait a week later. Worse off, I heard that the appointment has no specified period so that Chamisa can resurface immediately after, 31 July 2020.

“That way he won’t have to attend the demo, neither will he face supporters’ wrath for not rallying with them on the proposed date; nor persecution from the law, since he will claim to have been absent,” complained Gumbi.

This is not the first time that Chamisa has sacrificed his gullible supporters, feeding them to the wolves, and leaving them to face the wrath of the law alone.

In 2018, Chamisa is on record calling supporters ‘stupid’ having participated in a protest soon after the announcement of the 30 July election polls, which he had initially called on.

Commenting on the aftermath of the protest, Chamisa is on record distancing himself saying, “You are talking about an election that has not been declared. And why would I even react because I do not know the results that will be announced?

It was very stupid, even, for people who demonstrated… it was stupid, because they then opened themselves for attacks and manipulation. I think whoever demonstrated - it was their right, but I feel it was not called for.”

The police have already warned members from participating on this protest on the said date as it is in contravention of the lockdown regulations in place to curb the COVID-19 pandemic, as the country continue battling with the cases which are rising daily.
