MDC A has a penchant for violence –Mashakada

MDC T national treasurer Tapiwa Mashakada has labeled the Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance as a violent party devoid of any democratic tenets.

Speaking to this publication recently, Mashakada accused the MDC Alliance of not being tolerant to other political opinions and accused them of promoting violence in the country.

“Today, he (Douglas Mwonzora) is addressing women in Vungu while Gift Chimanikire is in Mashonaland Central where uncouth and violent CCC (Chamisa Chete Chete) youths (MDC Alliance youths) tried to disrupt the MDC T gathering. The MDC Alliance are not democrats. They are not tolerant. They believe in violence,” said Mashakada.

Mashakada added that the false narrative of MDC T party being an appendage of ZANU PF will not hold water as that party is a genuine opposition party that is not controlled by the ruling party.

“The ‘ZANU PF lite’ tag will not stick on us. Unlike the MDC Alliance, we have a political plan .We have a political programme and the MDC Alliance does not have. The MDC Alliance Facebook activists are not on the ground and we are on the ground. Their business is just to bark while their small formation continue to sink into political oblivion,” added Mashakada.

Mashakada further said that the MDC T has a plan to see Zimbabwe prosper and they will not hesitate to join hands with the ruling party to assist in turning around the fortunes of the country.

“We don’t just oppose for the sake of opposing. As MDC T, we are comfortable with working with the ruling party as long as it benefits the people of Zimbabwe. We are Zimbabweans first before anything else. I wish those in MDC Alliance will adopt the spirit of putting Zimbabwe first before their petty personal interests,” said Mashakada.

The opposition is in disarray after Chamisa and his cabal refused to respect last year’s High Court ruling to revert to the 2014 party structures.

The opposition MDC has since disintegrated into two formations, the MDC Alliance and MDC T.
