A senior MDC Alliance member to resign

A high ranking MDC Alliance is set to drop a bombshell anytime soon by announcing his resignation from the opposition movement and join ZANU PF.

The senior official, who had been with the opposition movement since its inception, has decided to quit citing endless squabbles and lack of clear political trajectory within the MDC Alliance.

In an interview with this reporter, the veteran official (name withheld as per his request), cited unrelenting factional bickering as his reasons for dumping the opposition party.

“I am fed up with continued factional bickering within the party. If the MDC Alliance was failing to solidify itself now, what more would happen to the country if it assumes the reins of power? The MDC Alliance does not have a unified and coordinated vision to take this country forward,” said the official.

He added that he decided to quit that party after it had donned on him that the same was not a party for the general populace, but a wheel that propels self-enrichment of a few. The resignation was also necessitated by MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa’s perceived negligence of the veterans of that party opting to work with the Johnny- come-lately.

He further said that he also noted that the MDC Alliance was just a horse-ridden party by former colonizers, as it always pushes for the protection of white people at the expense of the locals.

Another reason that made the high ranking official to contemplate ditching the MDC Alliance was how the Government of President Mnangagwa had transformed the country in just three years. He said the road rehabilitation and construction, the success of this year’s agricultural season and peace currently prevailing in the country was a sign that more could be done for the people of Zimbabwe by a ZANU PF-led Government than the MDC Alliance.

The resignation of the senior officials from the MDC Alliance would not be the first as early this year, former MDC Alliance deputy treasurer, Lilian Timveous ditched the opposition outfit citing lack of political direction and politics of vengeance as the main causes of her resignation.
