…as PEC members absolves Kazembe of any wrongdoing

Preparations for ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference slated for October this year in Mashonaland Central Province are at an advanced stage with the Provincial Chairperson, Kazembe Kazembe saying that they are ready to host the delegates.

Cde Kazembe said they were working tirelessly to host a well-coordinated conference that will live up to expectations and urged members to put shoulders on the wheel to ensure a successful conference.

“We are hosting the National People’s Conference and we should not be found wanting. We must put everything in place to ensure a flawless conference with no hiccups. Despite COVID-19 challenges, we pledge to host a conference that will live to expectations,” said Cde Kazembe.

Cde Kazembe added that the conference would also be used as a platform to celebrate many economic achievements of the New Dispensation. He further said that hosting the conference meant that the Province should be united and urged people to set their differences aside and focus on building the party.

He urged party members to focus on economic issues and market the achievements of President Mnangagwa and the Party to the people ahead of the 2023 elections.

Chairman of the Conference Working Committee, Dr Lazarus Dokora, said they had started taking stock of conference needs and he expressed satisfaction with the preparedness the Province has made to host the conference. He added that over 70 percent of the conference needs were in place and also vowed that they will not disappoint as a Province.

Senior politburo member in the Province, Cde Kenneth Musanhi urged all party officials to pull in one direction and bemoaned misuse of social media by some party members. He said members should respect Party protocols and desist from unbecoming behavior which can bring the party into disrepute.

Meanwhile, Mashonaland Central Provincial members have absolved Cde Kazembe who was facing a barrage of attacks from social media and other online platforms for allegedly co-opting his perceived allies to be Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) members.

The co-options, which have since been reversed by the party, were allegedly done to strengthen the party ahead of the People’s Conference. PEC members unanimously concurred that it was unfair to accuse Cde Kazembe of any wrongdoing as the co-options were a decision  reached by the whole PEC and Kazembe only chaired the meeting, but did not impose anything on the people.

Meanwhile, a limited number of delegates will attend the conference, while the majority of members will virtually follow proceedings due to COVID-19 health protocols that forbid large gatherings.
