The MDC Alliance leadership has resolved to appoint a caretaker commission led by that party’s co-vice president Welshaman Ncube to run the affairs of Bulawayo province while modalities to bring peace in the province are being worked on.

A source who spoke to this publication revealed that at a recent National Standing Committee (NSC) meeting, the MDC Alliance appointed Ncube to run the affairs of Bulawayo province for three months.

“At a recent NSC meeting, Ncube was appointed to run the affairs of Bulawayo province for three months. Ncube was given a mandate to unite the warring factions and bring peace in the province,” said the source.

The source said that the same NSC meeting, MDC Alliance co-vice president Lynnette Karenyi Kore, who led a Commission of Inquiry to Bulawayo in June this year, accused Bulawayo organizing secretary Helen Ziviri alias Tsepiso Mpofu and spokesperson Swirthern Chiroodza of being the architects of all squabbles in Bulawayo.

“VP Kore accused Ziviri and Chiroodza of being architects of factionalism and endless squabbles in Bulawayo. She recommended that the two should be disciplined or expelled from the party as they were toxic and divisive,” said the source.

According to the source, Kore’s recommendations of having the duo of Ziviri and Chiroodza expelled from the party was thwarted by the NSC. However, the NSC directed that the warring factions in Bulawayo should be given a chance to amicably solve their difference.

“The party resolved Ncube should work on reintegrating the province. It was resolved that if the warring factions failed to unite and work together within three months, the entire provincial structure would be dissolved to pave way for new elections,” added the source.

The source further said that the resolution of having a caretaker committee for Bulawayo province was going to be communicated soon to the people of Bulawayo.

The MDC Alliance Bulawayo province is embroiled in factional fights that had sucked in national leaders such as national chairperson Thabitha Khumalo, Organising secretary Amos Chibaya and Ncube. These factional fights have paralyzed party operations in that province.
