Chief Muusha of Chimanimani has commended the New Dispensation for transforming livelihoods of the people of Chimanimani by initiating life changing projects in the area.

Speaking to this publication at the sidelines of the commissioning of Jopa-Kopa road by President Mnangagwa last Tuesday, Chief Muusha said road rehabilitation and construction came as a life saver to farmers in the area as they now had access to markets.

“The rehabilitation of roads in my area has made life easier for the local people. Lack of properly constructed roads was detrimental to development as it hindered the transportation of farm produce to the markets. However, because of this new roads, it is now easier for farmers to transport their produce to the markets or for buyers to come and buy from the producers,” said Chief Muusha.

Chief Muusha added that it was also difficult for people to appear before his courts in pursuit of justice as they could not travel due to bad roads. This was causing a lot of crimes to go unpunished as the culprits were not able to be brought before the courts because of inaccessible roads.

According to Chief Muusha, there is a lot of road rehabilitation going on in his area and he mentioned Charter-Jopa and Machongwe-Rusitu mission as some roads that are being rehabilitated. The Chief said the roads are being widened and modernised and this would go a long way in minimising road traffic accidents caused by bad roads.

The Chief further said that the Government was also constructing and upgrading some schools and clinics.

“Some time ago, people used to go to Chipinge in search of clinics, but we now have clinics in our area. Schools are being constructed and upgraded and this will go a long way in changing lives of the people. Again, the construction of roads caused a relief to the commuting public as the bus fares has drastically reduced because of the increased transport on the roads,” added the Chief.

Chief Muusha further thanked President Mnangagwa for availing job opportunities to the youths in his area as well as the Pfumvudza Programme that is supporting the indigenous farmers with inputs.
