Former ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial chairperson, Itai Dickson Mafios, is reportedly seeking readmission into the ruling Party, vowing to reform and harmoniously work with other members.

A source privy with the details told this publication that Mafios, who previously was a member of National Patriotic Front (NPF) and the now defunct Tyson wabantu Movement, has admitted that life outside ZANU PF was unbearable and he want to be readmitted back home.

“Mafios is finding it difficult to live outside ZANU PF. He has been nicodemously contacting the Mashonaland Central leadership so that he could be readmitted back into the Party. He is promising to be a loyal and dedicated cadre who will not cause disharmony in the Party,” said the source.

The source added that Mafios has no problem starting from the bottom as long as he is readmitted into the Party.

“Mafios has no problem starting from the cell level. What he want is to be readmitted into the Party. He has seen that there is nothing in the opposition and this is the reason he has never attacked ZANU PF or President Mnangagwa publicly. His heart is ZANU PF,” added the source.

According to the source, former Mashonaland Central Provincial Secretary for Administration and former Rushinga legislator, Wonder Mashange, is also contemplating re-joining ZANU PF. Mashange is believed to have told his close associates that he regrets the mistakes he made in the past and was in the process of engaging Party leaders so that he could be readmitted back in the Party.

Former G40 members who were suspended or expelled from the Party have been knocking on the Party’s door seeking readmission. Former Manicaland Provincial Minister of State, Mandi Chimene, has publicly apologised and is seeking readmission into the Party. In April this year, the Party’s Secretary for Administration, Cde Obert Mpofu said that ZANU PF was readmitting without conditions and burying the hatchet with all its members who were expelled from the Party on accusations of belonging to the G40 faction.
