Chamisa summons Ncube over Khupe meeting

The Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, has summoned his deputy, Welshman Ncube, to explain how he held a clandestine meeting with the leader of the MDC-T splinter party, Thokozani Khupe, without authorization from him.

A source within CCC told this publication that Chamisa still maintains that CCC had no structures, hence every member should seek authority from him before doing anything political.

The source added that Chamisa and his close allies were irked and also unsettled by Ncube’s meeting with Khupe and  the CCC leader is now contemplating showing his deputy the exit door before he causes more harm to the CCC brand.

“Chamisa has called Ncube to a meeting to explain details of his meeting with Khupe. Chamisa was furious when he heard that Ncube held a meeting with Khupe without his approval. He believes that Ncube was plotting against the CCC, hence he should be discarded from that party as soon as possible,” said the source.

The source added that Ncube’s days in the CCC were now numbered as members were worried by his regionalistic and tribalistic behaviour. The same source said that during the anticipated meeting between Chamisa and Ncube, the CCC leader would likely tell Ncube to either shape up of ship out

In a tweet yesterday, the CCC confirmed that it was concerned about Ncube’s meeting with Khupe and said party members should not be confused.

“We note concerns raised by this image (of Ncube and Khupe). It would appear it was a private meeting. CCC is a new citizen’s project. The roll out of the program of action and all matters incidental will be announced. Citizens must not be confused or panic about the health and well-being of their projects,” said CCC in a tweet.

Meanwhile, there were reports that Ncube and Khupe resolved to bury the hatchet and form an electoral pact ahead of the 2023 elections. The duo reportedly agreed to support any Ndebele speaking presidential candidate in the forthcoming harmonised elections.
