CCC out to finish off MDC-T

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has reportedly infiltrated the rival MDC-T with the intention of decimating that party before next year’s harmonised elections.

A source who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity, said that CCC had taken advantage of the planned MDC T’s July 2022 elective congress to cause commotion and the ouster of Douglas Mwonzora as that party’s president.

“CCC has greatly infiltrated MDC-T structures with the intention of destroying that party from within before next year’s harmonised elections. The main plan is to cause the dethronement of Mwonzora as the MDC-T’s president at the party’s congress slated for July this year. Mwonzora is surely going to be shocked by the congress results as he will be reduced to an ordinary card carrying member,” said the source.

According to the source, CCC has directed its sympathisers who are still within the rank and file of the MDC-T to influence members to either vote for Morgan Komichi or Engineer Elias Mudzuri as MDC -T president.

“People sympathetic to CCC but still within the rank and file of the MDC-T are well-known. These people have been directed to influence other MDC-T members to either vote for Mudzuri or Komichi at the elective congress. They have been told that Mwonzora should not emerge as the MDC-T’s president after the congress,” added the source.

The source added that CCC was using former MDC-T provincial member Fungai Chiposi and suspended MDC-T Harare provincial chairperson Zivanai Mhetu, to influence other MDC-T members to dump Mwonzora at the congress.

According to the same source, Chiposi and Mhetu are being given some money to buy out MDC-T’s potential congress delegates so that they cause commotion at the same congress.

Efforts to get a comment from CCC national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.
