President mourns Anglican Bishop, UANC leader

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has sent a condolence message to the Anglican Church and United African National Council (UANC) political party following the death of Bishop Jonathan Siyachitema and Nesbert Mutengezanwa respectively.

President Mnangagwa expressed his heartfelt condolences at the loss of the two men who have played significant roles in religion and politics impacting lives of the people of Zimbabwe.

“I received with deep grief news of the passing on of two of our elders, one an outstanding church bishop, another a political leader and member of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD).

“We have lost Bishop Jonathan Siyachitema of the Anglican Church, and Mr Nesbert Mutengezanwa, leader of the United African National Council (UANC), said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa said that the two men gave counsel to leaders, to communities they served, and at a personal level, to their respective families adding that all the wisdom is gone and the nation is now poorer without them.

Expressing his sincere condolences to the families of the departed, President Mnangagwa said, “On behalf of the ruling Party, ZANU PF, Government, and indeed on my behalf, I wish to express my most sincere condolences, foremost to the families of the dear departed, and then to the respective institutions they led, namely, the Anglican Church Community and the UANC Political Party, on the saddest losses. They are our losses together,” said the President.

President Mnangagwa has granted State-Assisted Funeral for both men in light of their outstanding contributions to society.
