Chamisa aligns himself with Ncube’s faction

Leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa has dumped the Tabitha Khumalo’s faction in Bulawayo and has since aligned himself with the Welshman Ncube faction after realising that Khumalo had no political muscle in that province.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Chamisa had taken time to resolve the political chaos in Bulawayo as he wanted to ascertain who had control of the province between Khumalo and Ncube.

After a series of clandestine investigations, Chamisa reportedly aligned himself with Ncube and was expected to convene a meeting in Bulawayo to direct Khumalo and her faction to start respecting Ncube as the CCC interim co-vice president.

“The president (Chamisa) has come in the open and aligned himself with the Ncube faction. Initially, he was sympathetic to Khumalo but he later realised that she had no control of the province, hence his switch to Ncube’s side,” said the source.

According to the source, Chamisa was desperate to win the Bulawayo vote in the coming plebiscite and was desperate to bring order in that province to avoid voter apathy.

The source added that although Chamisa had announced that he was the one to sign the 2023 candidates’ nomination papers, he had secretly endorsed Ncube to recommend candidates from Bulawayo who had the capacity to win it for the CCC party in next year’s harmonised election.

The same source added that Chamisa chose to align himself with Ncube after realising that he was being pressured by the likes of Tendai Biti and Charlton Hwende to hate Ncube for no apparent reason.

According to the source, Khumalo’s stance to deny the admittance of Thokozani Khupe into CCC has also pushed Chamisa to align himself with Ncube as he views him as a party builder who was above petty political differences.

Efforts to get a comment from CCC interim spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.
