President Emmerson Mnangagwa has assured investors that their investments in the country are safe and Government has put in place policies meant to improve investor confidence in the country.

Speaking at the inaugural Zimbabwe Annual Investment Forum in Harare yesterday, the President said that Government was ready to work with investors and partners in the private sector to achieve the country’s socio-economic goals.

“I want to assure you that your investments are secure, that the operating environment is stable, and that you are supported by policy certainty and regulatory safeguards,” said the President.

The President commended Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) for convening the Investors Forum and said that such Forums were important as they allow transfer of knowledge between Government and investors.

“Forums like these allow us to share a combination of knowledge around investment and financing towards accelerating the development of our country. This conference is further in keeping with my long-held conviction on the importance of open dialogue and strong collaborations between Government and the private sector to drive sustainable development,” the President said.

The President added that economic reforms initiated by the Government have to date enhanced the investment environment and had seen greater participation of the private sector. He further said that economic management was continually being strengthened, while better public financial management and performance of state-owned enterprises was vigorously being pursued.

President Mnangagwa said that key reforms had been designed to achieve macro-economic stability, improve the business operating environment, and ensure that the structures of the country’s industries were internationally competitive.

The President added that the Forum was pivotal and timely as it interrogated various ways to scale up sustainable long-term financing and investment. He further said that under the “Zimbabwe is open for business” mantra the country was primed and ready for both foreign and domestic investment.

President Mnangagwa informed that Zimbabwe has vast untapped potential and investors stood to gain much more by choosing to invest in Zimbabwe. He said that the country’s abundant mineral resources base, which was largely unexplored and unexploited, made the country one of the mining investment destinations of choice.

Meanwhile, the Investment Forum was held under the theme, “Sustainable Long Term Investment Options” and it attracted various investors and potential investors. The aim of the Forum was to spur foreign and domestic investments.

The key objectives of the Forum included improving public utilities investment options, financial literacy levels and increasing the participation of individuals on local and global investment markets.
