Chamisa, Siziba part ways

The once vibrant friendship of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa and that party’s interim deputy national spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba has irretrievably broken with the later opting to take a back seat as far as the affairs of that party were concerned.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Siziba, who was once Chamisa’s number one cheerleader, was fed up with the CCC leader’s autocratic behaviour of treating that party like a private entity.

“Chamisa and Siziba’s friendship has greatly deteriorated. Siziba has been complaining that Chamisa was not receptive to other people’s opinions on matters that concern the party. Siziba has of late been taking a lackadaisical approach to party affairs as he has been confiding in his inner circle that he couldn’t  devout much of his time to a party that is  being led by an autocratic leader,” said the source,

The same source said that what irked Siziba most was that his suggestions on how CCC could be managed were repeatedly shot down by Chamisa who at one time told Siziba that he should stick to his position of being the deputy national spokesperson instead of assuming the role of an advisor.

“Chamisa once rebuked Siziba that he should not assume the role of being his advisor but should stick to his duties of a deputy spokesperson. Siziba was told that he was not yet ripe politically to advise Chamisa on how CCC could be managed,” added the source.

According to the source, Chamisa has closed the political space for the youths to shine within CCC as he only wants all attention to be centred on him. The same source said that Chamisa and Obey Tererai Sithole were no longer in good books as the former was not comfortable with Sithole’s close ties with that party’s youths.

When contacted for comment, the CCC interim national spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere said all was well between Chamisa and Siziba.

“All of those aspersions are obviously false. We have a single focus which is to win the 2023 elections and to win big. All our energies are geared towards winning Zimbabwe for change-nothing else,” said Mahere.
