Sikhala feigns sickness in prison

Jailed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim deputy national chairperson and Zengeza West legislator, Job Sikhala has reportedly feigned sickness yesterday in a bid to force his exit from detention on medical grounds.

Opposition activist, Hopewell Chin’ono yesterday tweeted that Sikhala has fallen sick and was vomiting profusely while in prison.

However, a CCC insider who spoke to this publication said that Sikhala’s alleged sickness was choreographed in a bid to push for his release from prison.

“He (Sikhala) is not sick. He was feigning sickness in a bid to push for his release from prison on medical grounds. That sickness was an act from a script written by Sikhala’s lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa so that she can argue in court that her client was not safe in prison hence he should be granted bail,” said the source.

The same source added that if Sikhala was indeed sick, he should have informed his family first instead of alerting Chin’ono.

“If he was genuinely sick, he could have alerted his immediate family first instead of Chin’ono. The fact that he contacted Chin’ono first shows that the alleged sickness was not genuine,” added the source.

The source added that Sikhala was feeling deserted by his colleagues who have continuously  failed to stand by him during his incarceration and he regrets  being at Moreblessing Ali’s funeral as those he expected to push for his release from prison have forgotten about him.

Meanwhile, former ZANU PF youth leader, Jim Kunaka has also accused CCC president, Nelson Chamisa of neglecting Sikhala. Sikhala was arrested on 14 June after inciting violence that erupted in Nyatsime during the funeral wake of slain CCC activist, Ali who was alleged murdered by her boyfriend, Pius Jamba.
