CCC big wigs feel threatened by Khupe

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) bigwigs are reportedly unsettled by Thokozani Khupe’s increasing influence within that party and are plotting her downfall.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Nelson Chamisa’s recent praise of Khupe’s positive influence in that party, which led to the triumph in the just ended Bulilima by-elections have irked some senior members who now view Khupe as a threat.

“Khupe has unsettled some senior party members within CCC. Khupe is now hated by some big wigs that now see her as a threat to their positions. CCC members in Bulawayo and Matebeleland region are already plotting to sabotage Khupe’s efforts in mobilising for the party fearing that her mobilisation skills might endear her to Chamisa,” said the source.

The source added that the rumour that Chamisa might appoint Khupe as one of her three deputies has made people aligned to Welshman Ncube and Lynnette Karenyi Kore to abhor Khupe as they don’t want her to ascend to the position of vice president ahead of Ncube and Kore.

“Rumour that Khupe might be appointed as one of Chamisa’s deputies has irked some senior members within the CCC and they are already plotting her downfall before she ascends to that position. It’s going to be tough for Khupe to work with the CCC as some people view her as a traitor and unprincipled leader,” said the source.

According to the source, some CCC senior members were querying Chamisa’s wisdom in accommodating Khupe within CCC considering that she was the architect of the political misfortunes that befell the MDC-Alliance.

Furthermore, the source added that some members are planning to write a petition to Chamisa compelling him not to delegate any party duties to Khupe or risk losing members in Matebeleland region.

Efforts to get a comment from CCC interim spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.
