Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has rattled the feathers of that party’s bigwigs after he hinted that a new interim National Executive Committee (NEC) would be announced soon.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Chamisa was receiving immense pressure from his Western handlers who have directed him to immediately appoint an interim committee to steer the work of CCC ahead of 2023.

“Chamisa is receiving pressure from the British and American Embassies who are directing him to immediately announce an interim NEC to steer CCC mobilisation work ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections. The difference is that, this time the NEC will be known as the National Champions Committee (NCC). Chamisa is expected to side-line a number of bigwigs in the new structure as he accuses them of secretly plotting to topple him as CCC leader,” said the source.

The source added that Senior Foreign Service Officer, Arthur Brown has been holding meetings with Chamisa telling him that Washington was irked by his delay in announcing the interim structure. The same source added that the new NCC structure was expected to be announced this coming Saturday.

According to the source, Chamisa was hesitating to announce the interim structure fearing infiltration from pro-Tendai Biti faction which is planning to push for a Congress especially if a Constitution is availed.

The source added that the new NCC structure would see the elevation of Ostallos Siziba, Fadzayi Mahere (deputy president), Amos Chibaya (Secretary General), Clifford Hlatshwayo, Starman Chamisa, James Chidhakwa, Trust Mamombe, James Chidhakwa and Tsepiso Helen Mpofu (Bulawayo Provincial chairperson).

The others to be elevated include Prince Dubeko Sibanda, Daniel Molokeli, Ralph Magunje, Gilbert Kagodora, Prosper Mutseyami, Costa Machingauta, James Gumbi, Prosper Mutseyami, Trevor Saruwaka, Denford Ngadziore, Mucharairwa Mugidho and Morgan Ncube.

Those expected to be thrown into the dustbin include Charlton Hwende, Tendai Biti, Job Sikhala, Murisi Zwizwai, Happymore Chidziva, Herbert Gomba, Maureen Kademaunga, Thabitha Khumalo, Willias Madzimure and Edwin Mushoriwa. These are being punished for being the kingpins of the Maruva Cabal, a faction that is allegedly seeking to topple Chamisa.

Meanwhile, efforts to get a comment from CCC spokesperson, Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.
