Former Tsvangirai ally defects to ZANU PF

Former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s top ally, Roseline Zigomo has defected to ZANU PF citing uncertainty within the local opposition parties.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Zigomo who was now a member of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), joined ZANU PF accusing CCC of not being a suitable political alternative to ZANU PF.

“Zigomo, who used to work as a legal expert in the late Tsvangirai’s office during the Government of National Unity (GNU), has joined ZANU PF. Until recently, she was a member of CCC. However, she was always complaining that there was no political light within that party. She is now officially a member of the ZANU PF Party,” said the source.

The source added that some more CCC members were expected to follow Zigomo’s footsteps and defect to ZANU PF ahead of the 2023 Harmonised General elections.

Meanwhile, there are reports that some members of the vanquished G40 faction are seeking readmission into the Party lamenting that its cold outside ZANU PF.

The source said that former Rushinga legislator and Mashonaland Central Provincial Secretary for Administration, Wonder Mashange has approached the ZANU PF leadership in that province seeking readmission.

“The G40s are seeking readmission into the Party. Last week, Mashange approached ZANU PF leadership in Mashonaland Central and apologised for his wrong doings. He begged for readmission into the Party vowing not to misbehave again,” said the source.

The source added that in the few months to come, a number of G40 saying it is the only political alternative available.

Meanwhile, self-exiled former Cabinet Ministers, Professor Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao have written to ZANU PF apologising for supporting CCC during the 2018 elections.11:30:41
