Government reviews fuel prices

Government  through  its  energy  parastatal, the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority  (ZERA)  has reduced  the  petrol  and  diesel  prices today to  improve  affordability  of  fuel  to  citizens  ahead  the  festive  season.

In a press statement, ZERA announced the downward review of fuel prices much to the appreciation of citizens.

“Please  be  advised  of  the  review in  fuel  prices  for  diesel and  blend  with effect  from  30 November  2022. The  prices  have  been  reviewed  as  follows: retail  price  of  blend  is now  US$1.54  or  ZWL  1008.57  down  from  US$1.59  or  ZWL  1028.55.Diesel  prices  is   downgraded  to $1.70 or ZWL  113.03  per  litre  from  $1.73  or  ZWL  116.94  per  litre  ZERA,” read the statement.

Speaking to this publication, Ms Samanga who is a teacher at one of the schools in Mufakose, thanked President Mnangagwa and Government for the people centred policies.

“Despite having emerged from Covid 19 pandemic, the Government has constantly been reviewing our salaries and ensuring that we are cushioned from inflationary pressures. 

“The bonus that we are receiving in two instalments will ensure that after the festive season, we still have money for our children’s school fees.

“The reduced fuel prices will ensure that public transport that is usually reviewed upward during the festive season is maintained at current prices or even reduced. This will make holiday travelling with our families affordable,” said

Meanwhile, ZERA advised that fuel stations must openly indicate prices to  the  public  as  provided for  by the  fuel pricing  regulations.
