Harare residents blasts CCC for diarrhoea outbreak

Harare residents have castigated the opposition political party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councilors following a diarrhoea outbreak that has hit the Capital. The residents have cited uncollected refuse and failure by CCC councilors to repair the dilapidated water pipes in all the residential areas in Harare.

On his Twitter handle yesterday, Kudzai Mutisi blamed the lack of service delivery on the Harare residents who continue to vote for the incompetent CCC councilors.

“Folks in Harare have repeatedly voted for incompetent and reckless CCC councilors. Cholera killed thousands in Harare because of lack of sanitation. Currently, diarrhea is affecting thousands of people

“To be blunt, Harare voters are the most politically illiterate in Zimbabwe,” said Mtisi

One citizen Amos Gomba who spoke to this publication castigated the CCC party stating that its mandate is to look for alternative policies to address the sanitation challenges in the city instead of opposing and tarnishing Government policies on social media.

“Opposition parties are not supposed to oppose and tarnish Government policies like what they always do on various social media platforms. CCC must be in a position to fill in policy gaps, and compliment them with other alternative policies,” says Gomba.

Charity Matenga a local vendor in Harare said that the CCC councilors have forgotten their mandate of responding to the needs of the people and many vendors are finding it very difficult to operate since most of the public toilets are no longer functional.

“The situation in the capital leaves a lot to be desired. The CCC councilors have totally forgotten us. As vendors, we no longer perform our duties efficiently because there is no more running water, to make matters worse the public toilets can no longer function. We are now helpless. Those we call city fathers have abandoned us,” said Matenga.

Harare recorded over 1 100 cases of diarrhea between October 24 and November 20 due to the City`s failure to provide clean running water, collect refuse and attend to burst sewer pipes.
