‘Tsenengamu is trying to sell a dead horse’

Expelled former ZANU PF Youth League National Political Commissar, Godfrey Tsenengamu has been mocked for trying to sanitise the battered political image of former G40 kingpin, Saviour Kasukuwere by campaigning for him to be the country’s next president.

Yesterday, Tsenengamu briefed the media and said that the country had a political toxicity and polarisation that can only be healed by Kasukuwere. However, people who spoke to this publication said that Tsenengamu should stop portraying Kasukuwere as a saviour and saint as he had a tainted political past.

“In Kasukuwere, Tsenengamu is trying to sell a dead horse as he will not find any takers. No serious person can rally behind Kasukuwere considering that he was known previously as a political thug and bully. Our politics doesn’t need another Kasukuwere as he is a divisive character,” said Enia Rusike.

Gift Chazimbwa added that Kasukuwere once had his time in politics and blew it because of his unquenchable appetite for power. Chazimbwa said that bringing back Kasukuwere into our political space was akin to inviting a disaster as he would turn the political landscape upside down because of his violent political approach.

Lloyd Gotora said that it was ironic that a person holed up in South Africa would dream of becoming the President of Zimbabwe. He said that Kasukuwere should know that he was now a political nobody as few people now recognise him as a politician.

Gotora also took a swipe at both Kasukuwere and Tsenengamu and labelled the duo as political prostitutes as they have been associated with several political parties since 2017.

Miriam Sithole also said that Tsenengamu was wasting his time in campaigning for Kasukuwere as he would not even garner one percent of the presidential vote. Sithole advised both Kasukuwere and Tsenengamu to seek readmission into ZANU PF instead of wandering in the political wilderness as they are currently doing.

Meanwhile, the people of Mt Darwin South interviewed by this publication said Kasukuwere should not fool himself into thinking that they would back him as they would not vote for any other candidate who was not ZANU PF. Kasukuwere was a Member of Parliament for Mt Darwin South for 17 years and the electorate accuses him of failing to initiate meaningful development during his tenure.
