Gvt lauded by farmers

Farmers have roundly lauded Government for its continued support in agriculture productivity.

Speaking to this publication, Mr Nqobile Nyathi, a prominent farmer in Kwekwe, said that Government support had come in handy for farmers before commending it for its concerted efforts to ensure agricultural productivity.

“As farmers we are happy with the new administration which has shown commitment to ensuring food security. We feel obliged to compliment Government efforts of enhancing productivity through the Presidential Input Support Scheme and Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme, which have seen us farmers getting seeds and fertilizers that have helped us to produce bumper harvests for the past years. The Second Republic is making sure that no one is left behind in terms of development and has been providing agriculture support in the forms of inputs and mechanisation.

“This is our country, we have to use our God-given resources, the land, our talents and we were given this land, the animals and everything in it. We must feed ourselves because when people are well fed they can then pursue various professions and we want to thank our Government for helping us see this through. The Second Republic has put in place policies that ensure irrigation is done at a large scale across the country and we ought to applaud our Government for that,” said Nyathi.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa speaking from his Pricabe Farm in Sherwood, Kwekwe, at the weekend said his Government would continue to prioritise food security, assist farmers to ensure they produce at full capacity and said the land reform would never be reversed.

“The land reform will never be reversed. Our task is to make our land productive and Government must assist all our farmers to be productive. It is the priority of the Second Republic to ensure food security. Yes, sanctions were imposed on us and have caused untold suffering but we have managed to circumvent the embargo and we are forging ahead with the transformative development programme.” said President.

Meanwhile, a Citizen Satisfaction Survey and Baseline Survey on Work Culture Transformation 2022, has shown that a majority of citizens are satisfied with President Mnangagwa’s servant leadership and citizenry governance style.
