The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) thugs continue to unleash violence against ZANU PF members despite President Mnangagwa’s repeated pleas for political tolerance.

A source who spoke to this publication said that 20 CCC activists in Masvingo last week attacked two ZANU PF members and left them for dead.

“Last week, 20 CCC thugs attacked and seriously injured Masvingo Urban ward 20 ZANU PF District Youth League chairperson, Wellington Mangwiro and his deputy, Tapiwa Matole. The violence took place at Nemanwa Business Centre in Masvingo Central Constituency. The visibly intoxicated CCC thugs donning their party regalia came in a lorry and they were shouting some obscenities. They later manhandled Mangwiro and Matole before subjecting them to a serious bashing,” said the source.

According to the source, the CCC thugs accused Mangwiro and Matole of frustrating that party’s Mugwazo mobilisation programme in Masvingo urban.

“Mangwiro and Matole were being accused of mobilising Masvingo Urban residents to resist CCC’s Mugwazo mobilisation programme. The duo was heavily injured and they are still nursing wounds they sustained from that fracas,” added the source.

Another source told this publication that last Tuesday; some CCC hoodlums attacked and killed an unnamed ZANU PF Branch chairperson in Magunje, Mashonaland West Province.

“ZANU PF Mapuranga Branch chairperson in Magunje was murdered yesterday (last Tuesday) by CCC thugs and one of the thugs, Majidu Ajidu, was arrested. The other thugs are still on the run,” said the source.

The same source added that the CCC hooligans were wreaking havoc in Magunje and were moving around with machetes concealed in their trousers.

Political analyst, Terrence Chipwanya said that it was worrying that CCC was unleashing  inter and intra party  violence at a time President Mnangagwa was calling for peace and political tolerance ahead of this year’s plebiscite.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has promised peaceful elections and warned that the country’s state security agents would deal with all perpetrators of violence regardless of their political affiliation.
