In an unprecedented twist to the political landscape, the ruling ZANU PF is projected to capture a number of seats previously held by the opposition in Harare Metropolitan Province.

 Among the significant developments, unconfirmed reports indicate that Starman Chamisa, brother to Nelson Chamisa, has failed to retain Mbare constituency.

Sources close to the situation suggest that Starman's perceived complacency may have seen his downfall.

"Many residents felt he took their support for granted. When the community reached out seeking assistance, Starman seemed distant and out of touch," said Tatenda Nyathi, a political analyst based in Harare.

In addition to the political shakeup in Mbare, ZANU PF is also favoured to clinch victory in the Epworth South constituency.

The party's candidate, Taedzwa Mutana, has gained significant traction, thanks to his reputation as a "man of the people.

“Community members highlight Mutana's responsive approach, which starkly contrasts with other political figures in the province. Mutana has been there for us, always listening to our needs and making a genuine effort to assist. It's refreshing to see a politician who genuinely cares," remarked Farai Muzenda, a resident of Epworth South.

ZANU PF's possible gains in these constituencies are indicative of a larger trend, pointing to an electorate eager for representatives who are more attuned to their concerns.

Another political analyst, Edith Mushore said that this potential shift in Harare might signify a broader move towards politicians who are seen as actively engaging with their constituents.

However, while speculation and early projections have painted a clear picture, the official word is yet to come.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) said it was committed to ensuring the accuracy of the results.

 "We understand the anticipation, but meticulous verification is crucial for a transparent and fair electoral process," said ZEC in a statement.

Meanwhile, as Harare and the nation await the official announcement, it's evident that the dynamics of the political landscape are evolving.

The emphasis on politicians who connect with their constituents on a grassroots level appears to be more crucial than ever.
