In a grand swearing in ceremony at the National Sports Stadium today, President Emmerson Mnangagwa shared his visionary agenda for Zimbabwe's resurgence and emphasized that his Government was committed to policies centred on the welfare of the people and rooted deeply in Pan African values and norms.
During his speech, President Mnangagwa declared, "Zimbabwe is surely on the rise. Our national development philosophy, Nyika inovakwa, igotongwa, igonamatigwa nevene vayo, shall continue to be the beacon of our pro-people policies, anchored on Pan African values and norms. This philosophy sums up our sovereignty as well as the collective duty and obligation we have to develop our country and the African continent."
Highlighting his commitment to the nation, President Mnangagwa assured that his new Government would prioritize the betterment of its citizens.
He affirmed, "My new Government will deliver on the promises we have made to you. The transformation of living standards for our people, especially those in rural communities, will be accelerated while concerns of those in urban areas will not be neglected."
The President emphasized the power of self-belief and intrinsic value. He urged Zimbabweans to believe in themselves and their capabilities as Zimbabweans and Africans. According to him, development and national prosperity rooted in indigenous resources and talents is more sustainable and lasting.
Further underlining his vision for the country, President Mnangagwa mentioned that his Government would continue to shape a predictable business landscape, ensuring safety for capital and investments.
Stating his Government's commitment to its citizens, he asserted that his leadership would always be "a Government from the people, by the people, and for the people," and reassured that a bright future lies ahead for Zimbabwe.
On the same occasion, he appealed for the national spirit and unity, urging Zimbabweans to uphold peace and harmony. The President vociferously called on citizens to reject violence, tribalism, regionalism, hate speech, and other divisive tendencies that could hinder national progress.
Meanwhile, the inauguration event saw the presence of distinguished international guests, marking its significance on the global stage. Among the attendees were several heads of state such as South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa, DRC President, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Mozambican President Felipe Nyusi, and former Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, among many other esteemed dignitaries.
Today's event not only marked the beginning of a new presidential term but also a renewed promise for a brighter, united, and prosperous Zimbabwe. The nation now looks forward with anticipation to the unfolding of President Mnangagwa's vision.
