President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reiterated that the voice of the people who voted collectively on 23 August 2023, resulting in Zanu PF winning resoundingly, must be respected.

Speaking at the 20th   Zanu PF`s national people`s conference today, President Mnangagwa articulated that Zimbabweans’ collective voice must be respected because they spoke freely and demonstrated their rights to vote.

“Our hard work and unity of purpose saw us realize the well-deserved and emphatic election victory. The people of Zimbabwe spoke loudly and freely through their democratic right to vote, which remains our inheritance from the sacred blood of many departed sons and daughters of our nation.

“The collective voice of our people, gave Zanu PF a new five-year mandate to serve the people of our motherland, leaving no one and no place behind. Their collective vote must be respected and safeguarded,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa further applauded members of the party and the church for taking heed of his call to conduct a peaceful election before, during and after the elections.

“May I, therefore, sincerely thank you, members of the Party, including all our Churches for providing the requisite leadership and heeding my call for peace, unity, tolerance, love and non-violence, before, during and after the elections.

“As one people and descendants of Munhumutapa, we stayed true to our Party motto, Peace, Unity and Development. I say to you, well done, Comrades, well done Zanu PF,” said the President.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has encouraged Zimbabweans to be resilient despite the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

“The ever-changing socio-economic and political challenges, together with the illegal sanctions on our country should never discourage us. We must defend and consolidate the notable achievements of our great country, in honor of the departed heroes of our country, some of whom never lived to see our hard-won independence, freedom and democracy.

“As such, this Conference is not business as usual. We must re-examine ourselves, build on our Party`s strength, address our weaknesses and sharpen strategies to accelerate the implementation of our people-centred development policies, projects and programmes,” said President Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe has been under sanctions for more than two decades. However, despite the illegal sanctions, Zimbabwe has managed to achieve the US$12 billion mining sector target through the support rendered by the Second Republic, especially to small scale miners. The Second Republic is also encouraging miners to realize more benefits from the country`s precious mineral resources through the implementation of value addition and beneficiation.

The Second Republic is also setting up, building and modernizing national infrastructure. This include the energy and transport infrastructure, ports of entry as well as dams. High impact and people centred projects such as the Hwange Unit 7 and 8, Phase 1 of Beitbridge Border Post, Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, as well as Chivhu, Marovanyati and Muchekerenwa Dams, were completed.
