As the by-elections slated for next Saturday draw nearer, aspiring ZANU PF candidate Joseph Tshuma is prioritising the health of the people in Pelandaba and Tshabalala, offering not just promises but tangible relief through a recent health expo and on-going distribution of free medication.

The health expo held today, saw a throng of residents seeking medical attention for diverse ailments.

In an exclusive interview with this publication, Tshuma expressed his unwavering commitment to alleviating the healthcare challenges faced by residents with incurable diseases.

"I am on a mission to lessen the burden for the residents, especially those struggling with health issues and lacking the means to afford essential medications. Many live with chronic illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure, struggling to afford the medication they need to survive. I could not just stand by,” declared Tshuma, embodying a dedication that extends beyond political aspirations.

Tshuma's vision for community betterment doesn't end with healthcare. Recognising the dire shortage of toilets, with five families sharing a single facility, he vowed to tackle the issue head-on.

"To improve the health of the residents, building of toilets is a crucial step. Our people deserve dignity and hygienic facilities. Building more toilets is a crucial step towards improving the community's health. It's about preventative measures, about breaking the cycle of disease,” proclaimed Tshuma, outlining a comprehensive approach to community well-being.

Additionally, Nontsapho Makeleni, a health expert who attended the health expo, praised Tshuma's initiative, emphasising its profound impact on the community.

"This health expo is of great help to the community. Many people with different ailments came for check-ups, and the fact that it's free underscores its significance. He is not just campaigning for votes; he is demonstrating genuine concern for the people's health and livelihood. His actions speak louder than promises, offering a beacon of hope in a community facing numerous challenges,” lauded Makeleni.

Residents echoed their gratitude, with Nomathemba Sibanda expressing heartfelt appreciation for Tshuma's genuine concern for the welfare of the people.

“My father suffers from diabetes. Before, buying his medication was a constant worry. Tshuma's help has eased that burden, giving us peace of mind. I am thankful for Cde Tshuma who has shown that he cares for the well-being of his people. Some candidates only ask for votes without addressing our needs," remarked Sibanda.

Meanwhile, as Tshuma aligns himself with the Vision 2030 mantra of leaving no one and no place behind, akin to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's emphasis, the community anticipates the positive outcome of his proactive endeavours.
