African Development Bank (ADB) country manager for Mozambique, Pietro Toigo met with Zimbabwean envoy to the Eastern neighbours, Douglas Nyikayaramba yesterday, the Harare Post has learnt.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade revealed this on its micro blogging site and publicised that the discussions touched on wide ranging issues inclusive of Zimbabwe’s drive to pursue economic diplomacy in attainment of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision 2030.

“African Development Bank country manager for Mozambique, Mr Pietro Toigo paid a courtesy call on Zimbabwe envoy to the Eastern neighbours, Lt Gen (Rtd) D Nyikayaramba today and discussed a wide range of issues. Zimbabwe is pursuing economic diplomacy to realise its Vision 2030,” said the Ministry.

The courtesy visit by Toigo reiterates earlier reports that ADB through its Group President, Akinwumi Adesina pledged to continue supporting Zimbabwe. This was said during Adesina’s courtesy visit to President Mnangagwa during his visit on the side-lines of Mozambique’s fourth President, Filipe Nyusi’s inauguration.

This was posted on the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Twitter handle, “ADB Group President, Akinwumi Adesina paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa in Maputo Mozambique where he reassured the President that the Bank will continue to support Zimbabwe to deal with the challenges related to climate change.”
